As a web designer (since 2004) and marketer for over 20 years I have used a lot of tools for online marketing. There has been a lot of trial and error and yes frustration. I have complied the tools that I use to run my various online businesses. These are the tools I also recommend to my clients.
Web Hosting

If you want to start a blog and make money with it, you can't go wrong with Bluehost. It comes WordPress pre-installed and you get a free domain name too.

I use Namecheap to register all my domains. I like to keep my domain registration separate from my hosting. It's quick and easy to register.

I use them to collect email subscribers, tag them, and send them to an email sequence. A must-have for all bloggers.

Aweber
Easy email marketing platform with email automations and built in email templates to get you started.

MailChimp
Their main benefit over ConvertKit was that it was free. But this edge became obsolete once ConvertKit launched their free plan.

Lead Generation

Thrive Leads
I create my opt-in forms with this plugin. The best features are the different opt-in form types, A/B testing and detailed analytics.

Social Warfare
This is who I use for the beautiful social sharing icons I have on all my blog posts. Loads fast, updated often and is super cheap.

Amazon Associates
I use Amazon Associates on my other websites. Regardless of your niche, you can find products to promote on your website.

Adsense
If you want to make money with ads Google Adsense is a great start and easy to use.
Sell Your Own Products

Shopify
Not in the WordPress universe but is great for e-commerce and dropshipping websites. It comes with hosting and built in social media integration among a host of features.

Stripe
If you are going to sell anything, you first need a Stripe account to process credit cards.

SendOwl
You need this tool to sell your own products. With SendOwl, when someone makes a payment your product is automatically emailed to the buyer.
Sell Courses

Thrive Apprentice
I use this on my courses page to sell online courses. You will make more money selling a course than an ebook, even though they're very similar.

Teachable
This is the most popular solution for creating and selling online courses. Most bloggers use this platform.
